Established in 2003, It’s My Shout was originally set up in Bridgend (South Wales) to provide practical experiences in film, television and media for young people in Wales who would not normally be able to access such opportunities, providing hands-on training, alongside film professionals.

Over the past five years It’s My Shout has developed into a National Short Film scheme and is supported by the industry.

We operate at three different levels: IMS NEW ENTRANT scheme, IMS FILM TALENT Scheme, and IMS PREMIERE Shorts. For example: In 2008 It’s My Shout worked with the Bangladesh Welfare Association to produce PAAN – THE GREEN LEAF - a short story about a community tradition. (IMS NEW ENTRANTS). We produced 7 x 10 minute dramas (IMS FILM TALENT SCHEME), which were all broadcast on ITV Wales. We also produced PLEASURE PARK, a 30 minute drama, taking on graduate trainees who have experience in the industry and are looking to push boundaries (IMS PREMIER SHORTS).

To date, thousands of people have participated in the scheme from across South and West Wales and have developed the skills which have enabled them to enter the film and TV workforce, in their preferred craft area. Many have found ongoing employment in the industry as a direct result of the scheme.

All IMS FILM TALENT and PREMIER films are broadcast on ITV Wales, with an accompanying documentary in November and December each year. The films are also premiered in October at a red carpet awards ceremony with over 400 guests.
