We are incredibly proud to share that Dysgu Hedfan, our film made in partnership with S4C and Coleg Menai in 2024, has been awarded the Iris Prize Community Award 2025!
Directed by Juliette Manon and written by Megan Angharad Hunter, this short film follows Erin and Alaw as they discover new love and identity.
From the jury: “Dysgu Hedfan was a beautiful exploration of young queer love with the artistic approach of ‘finding your wings’.“All the jury found this piece emotive, well-filmed, and beautifully curated as that exhibition of becoming yourself. Welsh being the medium of this film has further celebrated Welsh queer culture, further leading to Dysgu Hedfan becoming a standout in this Welsh LGBTQ+ festival. “Llongyfarchiadau i bawb o Dysgu Hedfan.”
Geraint Evans, Chief Executive of S4C, said: “The success of Dysgu Hedfan at this year’s Iris Prize Festival is great news and I’d like to congratulate the crew on their well-deserved award.“
